  • 1 box white cake mix made according to package instructions
  • Neon food coloring in pink, yellow, green, turquoise, and purple
  • 3 one-pint canning jars
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • Rainbow sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Thoroughly wash and dry the inside of each canning jar. Spray the inside of each jar thoroughly with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.

Scoop about 1/2 cups of cake batter into five small bowls. It doesn’t have to be perfect, don’t panic if you get a little more of less of one color than another.  Tint each bowl of cake batter with the food coloring until very vibrant.

Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the purple batter into the bottom of each jar.  Spoon equal amounts of turquoise batter, then green, yellow, and pink.  Place the jars in a shallow baking dish, add about 1/4″ in water in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes.

Remove jars and allow to cool completely before scooping a small portion from the top of your cake and adding a hefty dollop of vanilla buttercream to the top. Sprinkle & serve, or cover with a lid and store in the fridge or pop into the mail & surprise someone you love!

Charming Charlie

My friend Meisha and I were at the mall today and we were looking for boots . We both agreed it was hard finding them since we both have problems finding the perfect pair !!  My problem is  I have at least 2-4 inches of space between my leg and the edge of the boot and she has problems finding boots that will fit her thigh, we’re both on the end of the spectrum here. Anyway we looked at every store and we come across an intense store called “Charming Charlie” !! They had sections of different styles of necklaces, scarfs , hats, boots, purses, hairbands, and soo soo much more  and it was all colored coordinated !! It was my fairytale store!

Geek turned into sheek !!

When I was in fifth grade my teacher noticed my eye sight was off. He asked me to read off the white board  and to answer what was written in the black lettering. With my luck I was in the back of the classroom and was unable to read it!!  I started to squint and got half way through the paragraph until he cut me off asking if I had an eye exam. At first I was a little bit embarrassed ,since I was called out by him and  told him I never once had an eye examine! I went home and told my mom what happened that day and    decided it was a good idea. I’ve always sat in front of the TV  way too close and read with a book  too close to my face. If my eye sight  was bad it I  probably need to get glasses, on  the other hand I was happy that my vision  would be fixed and I could read better. Going to the optometrist made me nervous since I didn’t  want to turn into a nerd !!!!!

.

The women was very nice and it seemed to me everyone that worked at Kaiser wore glasses.  I have to say all the women there could rock their spectacles! I ended up being nearsighted and got a pair of my own spiffy spectacles for myself.  Three years later I got a new pair of glasses that I was not satisfied at all , since I was rushed getting out of the doctor’s office.  Ive had those glasses for at least five years and never updated them. The pad arms were gone and yet I never had an eyeglass holder  for them so the lenses were scratched !! The women laughed when she saw how pathetic  my broken down glasses were  , which by the way were very crooked when i tried them on for her.  She couldn’t help , but giggle . I had to explain myself on how I finally got insured and it was hard to afford them.  I must say glasses and contacts are really expensive, so it was hard for my parents to afford them. So I now have my eyewear updated  !! It took me awhile to get use to the idea of wearing glasses  rather then wearing contacts, but since ive been looking through magazines there’s  a new trend to have them.

How Life Started Out For Me.

I was born in a breath taking city of Santa Barbara , the heart of California.  Luckily I was adopted to loving parents that were unable to have children and desperately wanted a baby girl. At three days old they were called  to come to Cottage Hospital  to pick up a little girl . Being a foster child until I was 18 months I  was adopted out to  the loving parents who I call now MOM AND DAD. Everyone who I run into and share my story asked ” Would You Like To Meet Your Biological Parents??”. My answer to that would be “No, the parents I have  are considered my only parents.”   Now I know what your thinking. It would be nice to understand my  background from where I came from and I should  get information about my genes if I am carrier on genetic diseases  so when I have a child I would know what type of risks  that my child could inherit. You also maybe wondering “When did I find out I  that I was adopted?” I found out when I was able to understand  what adoption meant. My mother would point to my bellybutton telling me I have my biological mothers belly button and I would laugh and giggle as she pokes and tickled my tummy.  Believe me if you have a child you adopted  you  would want to tell them immediately  since your child could find out by understanding that you can  inherit features  by your biological parents and they would  accidentally come across adoption papers  ect……. I  found out a little bit of information when I was 18 why I was adopted. My mother had 3 other kids before me and had a abusive husband and  sexually assaulted  my brother and sisters .  My older sisters went to school one day and told their teachers on what was happening at home. They immediately called  social services and took them away. My mother had a choice on getting back her children if she left her abusive husband. She decided that she couldn’t leave , since she had nowhere to go and didn’t have a single relative to go to.  So here I am the luckiest girl to be in a loving home with three older brothers one from my mom’s first marriage and the other two who are also adopted ( one puerto rican, and the other german ) and my youngest sister (Swedish).  I feel so lucky that I wasn’t stuck in the system!  When I was eight years old my family moved down to San Diego  and stuck me in a  private school ,although that wasn’t new to me since I grew up in private schools all my life. Now Im going to Grossmont Community College  to get a degree in child development.  I work at a daycare with 1-4 yr olds and love it. I know some people cringe about kids since they are hard work, but the way I see it I get to make a difference by being involved in that toddlers life !! So here I am on my quest to cherish the little things in life!
